About Skip Poole
Skip began his football career at Chattanooga Valley High School in 1972 and actively played the game for the next 30 years until his retirement in 2002 while playing for the Florida Barracudas of the SSFL. During his tenure at Chattanooga Valley, he played Tight End and Defensive End and was selected as the Best Offensive Lineman and All North Georgia his senior year. He credits coaches Bobby Hoppe and Ed Stec as the inspirational forces throughout his career.

After leaving college, Skip pursued his passion for the game and played in several different minor leagues (UFL, AFL, AFA, SFL and the SSFL) beginning with the North Georgia Eagles (under Coach Ed Stec) and ending with the Florida Barracudas (under Coach Denny Randolph), including stops with the Orlando Bulldogs, Orlando Sentinels, Lakeland Warriors, Sarasota Sharks, Cape Coral Rays, Polk Indians, Titusville Titans, Ft. Myers gators and Venice Vikings. In 1980, he was awarded MVP for his performance at Middle Linebacker for the Sentinels and was selected Defensive Player of the League in 1981.
Skip attended several training camps and combines directed by NFL teams throughout the southeast, including a special invite by the New Orleans Saints in 1982, and never quit trying to break into the big leagues. Skip has been on staff at Douglas, Wauchula, Lemon Bay, Venice, Sarasota and Ridgeland high schools and was with the 2000 Venice Indian squad during their undefeated march to the Florida 5A State Championship.
In 2003, kip was names the Head Coach of the Venice Viking minor league football team, members of the Southern States Football League, which is a steppingstone for the three NFL teams located in Florida, and led them through their inaugural season. In 2005, Skip signed with the Chattanooga Steam as the Defensive Coordinator.
